Through the incorporation of a Haptic device it is also possible to actually ‘touch’ and ‘feel’ any object in the 3D Virtual World. This is another innovative development that Buzz 3D is pioneering, which currently include -

In a Dental Training environment, a simulated Dental Surgery that includes a lifelike 3D representation of a real person, students will be able to see the equivalent of their hand holding a simulation of a dental drill, which is a mirror of the haptic device they are holding in their hand in the real world, and then as they proceed to drill they will experience exactly the same sensation as if they were undertaking the same process for real. The same techniques can be used for simulating the ‘feel’ when giving injections, as well as other medical procedures.

In a Scientific scenario the user does not have to be limited to just touch, as Density and Gravity can also be simulated. Just imagine being able to ‘feel’ the surface of an asteroid several million miles away! For Science Centers and Museums Haptics adds a whole new dimension to Interactive Exhibits. Visitors could even plunge their hand into the methane lakes on Saturn’s moon, Titan, reach inside a gas giant, or break apart a whole planet with one hand to see what it’s made of.
