Home > PC Communication > VideoChat > Download, Installation and RegistrationDownload To download Buzz VideoChat you need to return to the download page and click the Buzz 3D download icon:
The following screen types will appear depending on your operating system,
You are presented with the option to either Run this program from its current location, or to Save this program to disk. In the second example you can Open or Save it. We suggest you choose Run this program from its current location or the Open option (depending on your options). Your browser may display a standard cautionary 'Authenticode' dialog (below) to ensure you are certain you wish to run the software (this is a common security feature of most Internet Browsers).
Installation If this dialog box appears, answer Yes to confirm the decision to run, and then installation is automatic from that point and the dialog box below will appear. More experienced users, however, may find it convenient to download the program to a place on their hard disk first before installing.
Buzz 3D checks to insure that the correct supporting software is installed during the installation process of Buzz 3D VideoChat. You may receive messages about this and ways to remedy potential issues at this stage. If you wish to attend to them at this time an icon will be placed on your desktop to resume the installation process at a later date. If you wish to proceed with the install process anyway and resolve the advice later please do so. Please note that if these required components are missing then functionality could be disabled. If you disagree with the installers advice and your PC does have the hardware and software capabilities necessary to run Buzz 3D VideoChat, please contact us at feedback@buzz3d.com to inform us. The following will appear,
Please read the End-user license and to proceed click I agree and then Next. By default the program is installed on your computer in C:\Buzz 3D VideoChat, to accept this click Next. More experienced users may wish to place it in an alternative location. Then click Finish to complete the installation process. The following Network Setup Wizard then appears.
IMPORTANT: When the following screen appears please ensure that you follow the directions carefully as otherwise VideoChat may not work properly on your PC. Please only proceed once you have confirmed your settings are correct.
Registration The first time you run VideoChat you will need to create a new account. You can do this by clicking the New tab on the Account Management dialog that appears when you start VideoChat and follow the "1-2-3" steps to continue.
Having clicked the Click here to proceed button the following screen will appear (if it doesn't, please click the Retry button as the server may be busy - the page will then load).
Once you've completed all the necessary registration information, a Sign-on ID and password will be immediately forwarded by email to you confirming your registration (example below). To complete your registration return to the Account Management box and click the Log On tab.
The Buzz ID (Account) will have automatically been added but you need to "copy and paste" the password received in the email explained previously into the Password type in box shown above (Windows 98 / Me users will be unable to use the Windows Clipboard to copy/paste the password item, due to a security limitation of these Operating Systems. Users are required to manually, and carefully, copy the password into the appropriate box). It's suggested that you select the Save it checkbox to save you having to remember the password for the Buzz ID account next time. Also select the Always open on this Page checkbox if you wish VideoChat to go straight to the Log On tab next time. Other tabs on the Connection Wizard dialog are explained below. The Main Menu tab is a shortcut for accessing the New and Log On tabs.
The Proxy Gateway tab is for if you have installed the Buzz Proxy Gateway on any of your PC's, allowing you to connect to it. Installation of the Proxy Gateway is required if you have several PC's in your local network which either link to a router, or a PC which provides access to the internet. Full instructions on when and where to set up the Proxy Gateway can be found within the Setup Wizard and the associated and highly extensive Help files.
The New tab allows you to create New accounts as described earlier in this section.
The Claim tab is used if you received an email stating an account has been created on your behalf, the mail will contain a special 'Token' number. Please type this number into the box as shown in the mail, so you can connect to the new account and claim it as your own.
The Log On tab is where you choose your account, and then log on to it and enter the VideoChat interface. This signs you up to our switchboard and registers you as 'on line'. Friends you may have given your Buzz ID to can then call you. From here you can also choose to edit your Account Details, change your passwords and reset accounts you may have forgotten the password for.
A more comprehensive Help system is available once you have downloaded and run VideoChat by simply clicking the Help button available at the base of each Account Management screen (see above). |
